Opened in 1998, the Madejski Stadium was constructed as the new home of Reading Football Club, replacing the historic Elm Park ground. The purpose-built, 24,000-seat stadium provided modern facilities for players and supporters, with four covered stands surrounding the pitch.
Working alongside main contractor Birse Construction, Hathaway delivered the stadium's roofing and external wall cladding package, including single-skin profiled steel roof coverings, Plastisol-coated wall cladding and specialist architectural finishes. The works incorporated complex curved roof sections, corner cladding, soffits, flashings and integrated rainwater systems, contributing to the stadium's distinctive appearance.
