Administrative Offices, RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire

Specialist Kal-Zip aluminium roofing works for a multi-block office development at RAF Wyton.

Established in 1916, RAF Wyton has played an important role in British military aviation, serving as both a training airfield and a significant bomber and reconnaissance base during the Second World War. Today, the Cambridgeshire station is home to the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence, supporting UK defence operations worldwide.

Working alongside Shepherd Construction, Hathaway undertook specialist roofing works as part of an office development at RAF Wyton in 1994.

The project featured a distinctive arrangement of pitched roof sections, incorporating Kal-Zip aluminium standing-seam roofing, insulated roof construction and detailed weatherproofing solutions. Hathaway’s roofing package included associated cloister and reception roof areas, requiring careful detailing around roof junctions, perimeter flashings and drainage arrangements.

Demonstrating Hathaway’s longstanding experience delivering roofing solutions for UK defence facilities.
