York Community Stadium is a major sports, leisure and entertainment destination, bringing together an 8,500-seat stadium, swimming pool, sports hall, cinema, IMAX, bowling facilities, restaurants and retail accommodation within one integrated development.
Working alongside principal contractor Buckingham Group, Hathaway undertook an extensive roofing and wall cladding package across the stadium, leisure facilities and adjoining cinema and retail buildings.
The stadium stands incorporated Euroclad profiled steel roof cladding, with Kingspan insulated composite panels, GRP cladding and polycarbonate systems specified across the external elevations.
The leisure facilities featured insulated single-ply roofing systems, including specialist acoustic roof construction over the swimming pool and sports hall.
The cinema and IMAX buildings incorporated separate Euroclad Elite PLUS acoustic roofing systems, while the wider retail and entertainment facilities featured Kingspan insulated wall cladding, flat roofing, internal parapet cladding and architectural aluminium louvres.
Hathaway’s scope also included architectural wall cladding, feature panels, rainwater goods, associated flashings and roof safety systems, contributing to the performance and appearance of this landmark community development.
