Gary Bower, Fabrication and Welding Instructor at South West Durham Training, recently spent a week in our Fabrication Division gaining hands-on experience in membrane welding.
He received expert instruction from Dale Somers and Anthony Hall of Hathaway, developing skills in an area he had not previously worked in.
Despite many years’ experience as a Class One Metal Smith, and being fully qualified in welding, sheet metal work, and blacksmithing, Gary had never undertaken membrane welding.
He described his time in the factory as both insightful and informative and plans to incorporate these newly acquired skills and knowledge into his teaching, enabling him to better prepare future apprentices for the techniques they will encounter with us.
Gary also expressed his thanks to Chris Peareth, Production Manager, John Mounsey, Production Team Leader, and to Dale and Anthony for the opportunity to broaden his skillset and pass this valuable experience on to apprentices at South West Durham Training.
