Full Job Description

To support the wider business to help drive the transformation initiatives of our sustainability journey.

The right candidate will bring data to life and provide essential information, research and implement new initiatives to strive towards our goal of becoming carbon net zero by 2045.

Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.

Genuine passion and commitment to promoting sustainability and driving positive environmental impact.

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 4:45pm & Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm

· Working alongside the estimating team, to support with embodied carbon calculations and formulating a strategy to reduce associated carbon on a project.

· Liaising with key supply chain members and working collaboratively to understand new lower embodied carbon offerings and opportunities to reduce associated Scope 3 emissions.

· Working with project teams to support social value initiatives including local procurement and supporting social enterprises.

· Aid with data collection and analysis to support the calculation of our annual carbon footprint including Scopes 1, 2 and 3. This will involve identifying opportunities to improve data quality and collection processes and liaising with suppliers to gather Scope 3 emissions data.

· Reporting against carbon reduction objectives and supporting carbon reduction measures in alignment with the carbon roadmap.

· Decarbonising all plant used on our construction sites, research around new technologies in this regard to inform the transition plan.

· Supporting the process for the completion of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).

· Researching new solutions for reducing environmental and social impacts of the business and supporting with CSR initiatives.

Main Functions:

· Promoting new lower embodied carbon products and demonstrating through carbon calculations and social value

opportunities potential ways to gain a competitive advantage and then implementing initiatives on secured projects and complete ‘as built’ carbon calculations to demonstrate achieved carbon reduction.

· Informing and driving sustainable transformation initiatives within the business by researching sustainability topics, as required and informed as well as collecting, managing and analysing environment and sustainability data from internal and external sources across a range of business functions, interrogating data to ensure accuracy prior to reporting, with guidance from colleagues where required.

· Supporting third-party audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards and regulations.

· Promoting and encouraging internal engagement and support training modules on key sustainability topics.

· Keeping up to date with the changing regulatory landscape in the sustainability world through reading and research as well as informing relevant functions about emerging trends, advancements and material reviews.

Skills & Attributions:

· Ability to work on own initiative to get projects done.

· Confident with IT including Excel, data management and other software.

· Adaptable and able to work efficiently on multiple projects, prioritising workload effectively.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and the ability to come up with creative solutions.

· Accurately recording, interpreting, interrogating, and presenting sustainability data.

· Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills.

· Problem-solver with the determination to get through issues to complete the project or task.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
