Hathaway Roofing, have been involved in all, from early design stages though to installation activities of the roofing envelope, to the various buildings including the main terminal, satellite building and various energy centres, sub-stations etc.
A roofing envelope package to a value in excess of £30 million, has been developed utilising "roof cassettes", pre-assembled in the "Cassette Assembly Building" located at the Bishop Auckland Manufacturing Plant. Some 3500 roof cassettes are to be transported to the Heathrow Site and loaded onto the roof at ground level.
The roof cassettes, briefly consist of a perforated liner, sub-frame, structural deck, complete with acoustic & thermal insulation, with a Corus Kalzip aluminium weathering skin.
The first "lift of" roof arch was hydraulically erected into position in Easter 2004, with the 2nd lift due june 2004.
Zone 1 of the satellite building is well advanced, after a start early May
A Substantial element of the Hathaway roof envelope is the roof glazing package, an "in house" fabrication utilising Schuco bespoke members.
