Our People

Hathaway's believe our employees are our greatest asset.

We are committed to developing and supporting our staff and providing an excellent working environment. We have a proactive approach to training our staff. We are an accredited centre for our subcontractors NVQ training.

investor in peopleWe achieved accreditation to Investors in People in December 2001 and have undergone successful reviews in 2004 under the profile review and in 2007, under the revised Investors in People standard.

Our latest assessor's report stated: 'People were able to cite examples of improvements including communication, flexibility of working and a continuing sense of well being. Many people interviewed expressed the sentiment that 'Hathaway's is a good place to work - a lot of people knock on the door but not too many leave'.

We have committed and loyal employees who enjoy working within Hathaway's and offer valuable experience and knowledge within our sector.

We have a growing number of employees who have joined our Club 25 (25 years service). We believe in continuous improvement and innovation and have a dedicated focus group to review and improve our processes.

Apprentice Programme

We have an apprentice programme where our apprentices study day release and gain experience within each team at Hathaway's .

Community Support

Our employees are committed to help us support our local Community. Over £15,000 has been raised for the North of England Children's Cancer Research Fund by a dedicated group of our employees participating in various sponsored bike rides.

Over £16,000 has been raised for Cystic Fibrosis by our employee raising sponsorship since 1999, completing the Great North Run year on year. Our employees have donated over £34,000 to Dr Barnardo's since 1991 and a large proportion continues to donate via our payroll today.

butterwick hospice careHathaway's adopted our local Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland as our company charity. In recognition of our support over the last 10 years and in particular, our help in funding the development of their day room last summer, we have recently received a Butterwick Hospice Corporate Partner 2008 award. We are proud of our association to this worthy charity.

We support school work experience placements via our membership of Durham Education Business Partnership.
